About Me

I was born in Harrisonville, Missouri to Dennis and Vickie Chappell. I spent the first months of my life living in a small apartment in Pleasant Hill while my father finished college. After my father's graduation he landed a great job with General Motors in Anderson, Indiana.

The family lived in Indiana for a few years then my Dad was offered a great job with Guide in Monroe, Louisiana. I pretty much grew up in Louisiana.

After high school, I didn't think I was really ready or cut out for college, so I spent the next five years living in Dallas, Texas working for a local office / industrial / household moving company. It was hard work. After about the fourth year I realized that I didn't want to do that type of work for the rest of my life so I decided to go to college.

I moved up to Missouri to go back to school. I spent the first two and a half years as Longview community College where I discovered the wonders of Geography... And met the girl of my dreams. But it was not yet meant to be

I finished up the education at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri. It was a great school with a great Geography program. It was there that I learned I wanted to have something to do with this new technology / science called Geographic Information Systems.

Places I have lived

I graduated in May, 1995 worked briefly as a cartographic editor for Western Air Maps in Lenexa, KS (now out of Olathe. www.westernair.com )

About four months later I was lucky enough to land a job as GIS Coordinator for Jefferson County, KS www.jfcountyks.com. I spent the next 5 years there. Feeling a need to be closer to home (Louisiana), I accepted a position in Magnolia, AR with a local forestry company www.reynoldsforestry.com.

I worked there for one year. But this didn't really work out like I had hoped it would I sought employment elsewhere and found a job in Richmond, Virginia.

For the next 7 years I worked for the Richmond, VA Assessor of Real Estate. I married my wonderful wife. A woman I have thought about often but had not seen for over 10 years.

We made our way back to Missouri and here we are today. We bought a house here in 2007 and hope to be here for a long time.

About Me

I'm not really a world traveler, but I've seemed to have moved around a lot.

Born in Missouri, a few years in Indiana, growing up in Louisiana, a few years in Texas, back to Missouri, a year in Arkansas, seven years in Virginia and now back in Missouri.
